The Russian Defense Ministry explained that the American side can not “have” its own sky over the Syrian territory, advising the United States to focus on combating terrorists, rather than provoking further incidents in the sky.
According to Igor Konashenkov, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Pentagon should remember that Syria is a sovereign state, and also a member of the United Nations. Thus, there is no “own” sky of the American side over it and it can not be, and the aircraft of the international coalition of the USA operate illegally, unlike the aircrafts of Russian VCS.
Igor Koshanenkov made this statement, responding to the statement of Damien Picart, representative of the central command of the United States Armed Forces. Earlier, he claimed that Russian aircraft were allegedly in the “US airspace in Syria east of the Euphrates.”
According to Konashenkov, the US side should focus on how to deal with terrorists IGIL (banned in the Russian Federation), rather than “provoking incidents in the sky.”
