Russia allocated $ 65 million for humanitarian aid

In 2017, Russia allocated more than $ 65 million to provide humanitarian assistance through the UN structures, said Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the world organization Sergei Kononuchenko.

“In 2017, the amount of Russian funding from the UN humanitarian agencies and direct contributions to humanitarian amounted to more than $ 65 million. In addition, we sent a half million to the Central Emergency Response Fund of the United Nations, which we consider to be a key multilateral tool for financing UN gum prizes.

Kononuchenko noted that Russia supports the proposal of the UN Secretary General António Guterres to increase the fund’s capitalization up to $ 1 billion.

According to the new humanitarian survey, the number of people in need in the world reached a record and made 135.7 million people. Accordingly, the required amount of funds for humanitarian operations increased, it reached $ 22.5 billion now.

At the same time, the diplomat stated that it is inadmissible to use the humanitarian agenda to achieve certain political goals.

Earlier it became known that Ukraine had no right to claim money from the UN humanitarian fund.
